With Dimensity chipsets, MediaTek recently introduced their new 5G Chipset, the Dimension chipset. This Dimensity chipset is a very important chipset to provide 5G connectivity to mid-range devices as well. Due to this Dimensity 800U chipset, it is possible to provide 5G connectivity for mid-range smartphones at a low cost.
Dimension 800U is an octa-core chipset powered by a 7nm TSMC FinFET process. It has two 2.4GHz ARM Cortex-A76 cores and six 2.0GHz Cortex-A55 cores. There is also a Mali-G57 MC3 GPU.
It comes with a 5G modem and supports dual-SIM dual-standby, dual-mode 5G (SA / NSA) and carrier aggregation. All of this is supported by MediaTek’s 5G UltraSave technology.
This chipset includes a separate Independent AI processing unit (APU) for Camera and Security Enhancement. It supports up to 12GB of 2133MHz LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2-type internal storage. Also, this chipset can provide displays with a 120Hz refresh rate for mid-range smartphones. The chipset also supports HDR10 + with Full-HD + and MediaTek’s MiraVision technology.
This chipset can perform up to a single 64MP sensor or a 20MP + 16MP dual-camera setup. In addition, this chipset allows us to use 4K video recording, HDR-ISP, Multi-frame noise reduction and many other camera features from a mid-range device.
In particular, the chipset will be able to bring 5G technology to mid-range devices. It gives us the opportunity to use a 5G experience as well as a mid-range device with good features without having to go for a flagship device.
